Argentina's CGT seeks renewed dialogue with Milei government after Santilli appointment

CGT co‑secretary general Jorge Sola said the labour federation wants to rebuild channels of dialogue with the Casa Rosada following the appointment of Diego Santilli as chief of staff. Sola argued Santilli’s political profile could enable talks on the country’s falling purchasing power, rising unemployment, family indebtedness and the loss of formal jobs in industry and construction.

The union also called for updating collective bargaining agreements to reflect new technologies and the impact of artificial intelligence, while criticizing the government’s recent labour reform for creating legal uncertainty. Regional leaders, such as Río Negro governor Alberto Weretilneck, expressed willingness to maintain provincial‑national dialogue under the new cabinet chief.
