Argentina's craft beer industry expands ahead of International Beer Day celebrations

Buenos Aires venues marked International Beer Day on 7 August with 2‑for‑1 promotions on brands such as Michelob, Stella Artois, Corona and local Patagonia brews. La Boque de Palermo offered a happy hour on lager, IPA and amber lager, while Felice pizzeria paired a 2×1 Michelob deal with its napolitana‑style pizzas. Restaurant Museo Evita also ran a day‑long 2×1 on a range of beers.

From 6‑8 August, more than 200 Argentine breweries and bars celebrated IPA Day. The Cámara de Cerveceros Artesanales de Argentina (CCAA) surveyed 102 craft breweries, finding that 70 % operate with a capacity under 10,000 L per month and only 3 % approach semi‑industrial scale (over 100,000 L). Business models vary: 42 % are pure production facilities, 27 % combine production with tap‑rooms, 21 % run their own bars and 10 % use alternative formats. Notably, 75 % of the breweries sell directly to consumers, bypassing distributors, a trend highlighted by CCAA vice‑president Rulo Bustillo.
