Argentina's Chief of Staff Diego Santilli expands control over telecoms and emergency funds

President Javier Milei’s administration has issued a series of decrees reorganising the Cabinet. Chief of Staff Diego Santilli now directly oversees the National Communications Agency (ENACOM) and the Agency for Public Information Access (AAIP), as well as other strategic bodies previously linked to the former Interior Ministry.

Management of the National Treasury Contribution (ATN) emergency fund for provinces has been transferred to the Vice‑Chief of Cabinet for the Interior, Gustavo Coria, under Resolution 64/2026. The move aims to speed up the allocation of resources to provinces facing financial or emergency situations.

A separate budget amendment (DNU 594/2026) increased funding for salaries, social security, debt service and intelligence, and allocated $280.5 million from an IDB loan to the Treasury. The first ATN tranche of 5 billion pesos was sent to the province of Córdoba, with further installments planned.
