Argentina's Economy Minister Caputo signs provincial debt settlement in Paraná

Argentina’s Economy Minister Luis Caputo met with Entre Ríos Governor Rogelio Frigerio in Paraná to sign an agreement under the Régimen de Extinción de Obligaciones Recíprocas (REOR). The deal will have the national government transfer former PRO CRE AR properties to the province and recognize a provincial debt linked to fiscal adjustments, aiming to clear reciprocal debts and improve the fiscal health of both levels of government.

Later that day, the Federal Council of Fiscal Responsibility reconvened in Paraná, bringing together provincial economy ministers, including Tucumán’s Daniel Abad, alongside Caputo. The council reviewed public accounts, compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Law, and the economic situation of member provinces. Abad highlighted the value of the joint forum, noting it was the first time in years a national economy minister attended. Caputo reiterated that Argentina has overcome internal and external shocks, emphasizing that competitiveness will be driven by tax cuts, infrastructure investment, credit creation, and regulatory reduction.

The meetings underscore the government’s push for fiscal consolidation, lower taxes, and respect for private property as pillars of its economic program.
