Entre Ríos province faces court challenge to centralized school food program

Parents, the teachers' union AGMER and the non‑profit Fundación Cauce filed a collective injunction in Entre Ríos to halt the province's new centralized system for supplying school breakfasts and snacks. The action, presented by lawyers Aldana Sasia and Rubén Pagliotto (with representation from Valeria Enderle and Verónica Fischbach), seeks to suspend the procurement scheme established by decrees 2264/2022 MDS and 852/2026 E‑GER‑GOB, which would award all contracts to a single supplier, Teknofood.

The plaintiffs argue the plan breaches Law 27.642 on the promotion of healthy eating and the front‑of‑pack labeling law because it would allow ultra‑processed products such as Teknofood’s “Budín Abanderado,” which carries warning labels for excess sugar, fat and calories. The injunction requests a precautionary measure ordering the province to stop distributing any food not proven compliant with the nutrition standards and to maintain the previous decentralized funding model for fresh or minimally processed items until full compliance is demonstrated.
