Argentina grants up to $400bn coparticipation advances to provinces

The national government, represented by Economy Minister Luis Caputo under President Javier Milei, approved financial advances – called coparticipation advances – of up to 400 billion pesos for each of several provinces. Entre Ríos received a new tranche after an earlier 220 billion‑peso advance; Jujuy secured a 150 billion‑peso advance; Santa Fe was authorized a similar line of credit; and Corrientes participated in the Federal Fiscal Responsibility Council meeting in Paraná, where governors and ministers reviewed fiscal coordination and a primary surplus achieved in May.

The advances carry a 15 percent annual interest rate and are to be repaid within 2026 from future federal tax revenue shares. The measures aim to provide liquidity for public‑service payrolls, infrastructure projects and to support the broader fiscal consolidation agenda promoted by Caputo, including spending cuts and tax reductions discussed at the council chaired by the governor of Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerio.
