Argentina's Formosa and Entre Ríos enact new worker wage and hour policies

In Formosa Province, the provincial government under Governor Gildo Insfrán has paid all civil servant salaries and the mid‑year bonus (aguinaldo) for the first half of the year, a move praised by union leader Víctor Alarcón as a stabilising measure for thousands of families amid national economic uncertainty. Alarcón called for the benefit to reach workers without triggering price hikes and urged continued union unity to protect labour rights.

Meanwhile, Entre Ríos Province has introduced a temporary reduction of the public‑sector workday to six hours per day, thirty hours per week, effective 1 July 2024. The change, set by Circular 03/2026 and lasting until 31 December 2026, aims to harmonise conditions across categories, with exceptions for senior managerial positions and no automatic extension to decentralized agencies or municipalities. The measure is overseen through the SIGAP system and has been welcomed by local unions as a step toward internal equity.
