Argentina's Global Market fraud case stalls after judge rejects appeal

Argentina's alleged $4 billion Global Market investment fraud continues to face judicial obstacles. Judge Daniel Guillén denied a request for precautionary measures without holding the scheduled hearing, stating that the complaint lacks the authority to appeal before formal investigation. The decision was sent digitally to the complainants, prompting anger among victims who have lost savings.

Attorney Marcelo Arancibi urged that the case be transferred to Federal Justice, arguing that provincial courts missed a decisive chance to halt the scheme. He estimates the fraud could involve between 8 billion and 10 billion Argentine pesos, making it one of the most significant recent judicial matters in San Juan. The lawyer stresses the need for stronger asset freezes and a thorough trace of the funds to recover victims' money and pursue criminal responsibility.
