Argentina's Government Revises Deregulation Plan as Opposition Factions Plot 2027 Candidate Strategy

The Argentine government has altered its approach to the deregulation package championed by economist Federico Sturzenegger. Within the opposition, the hard‑line faction of the PRO linked to former President Mauricio Macri is preparing to field its own candidate for the 2027 elections. Leaders such as Senate bloc chief Pablo Petrecca and Pergamino mayor Javier Martínez are coordinating with libertarian and radical elements to build a broad anti‑Kirchner front, while insisting on a dominant role for the “yellow” (PRO) sector in any future electoral alliances.
