Argentina's Hebe Casado Advances Provincial Legal Overhaul

Vice‑governor Hebe Casado has moved forward with the third phase of a comprehensive provincial legislative reform known as the "Law Hojarasca." The project, originally modeled on a national proposal by former minister Federico Sturzanegger, aims to systematically review and update the province's legal code.

Stage three examines statutes enacted between 1976 and 1990. Of the 303 laws reviewed, the draft calls for the full repeal of 133 and a partial amendment of one, citing obsolescence due to technological, economic or social changes, replacement by newer regulations, or the dissolution of referenced institutions. The provincial Senate approved a version with modifications, which the lower chamber has returned for further review. Subsequent phases will address statutes enacted after 1991.

The initiative seeks to create a streamlined legal dig‑set that simplifies consultation and application of current laws, progressing step‑by‑step as human resources permit.
