Argentina's Human Development Ministry promotes respectful language toward older people

The Argentine Ministry of Human Development, through its Directorate General for Older Persons, organized a workshop‑seminar to encourage respectful and inclusive language about older adults. The session, led by Lic. Verónica Núñez and a technical team including Andrea Gentillomo and Laura Barrojo, offered tools for professionals and students to examine how words shape perceptions of ageing. Participants discussed stereotypes, the social construction of old age, and legal frameworks such as the Inter‑American Convention on the Rights of Older Persons. Ministry director Cintia Páez stressed the need to avoid invisibilising language, while caregivers and social workers highlighted the value of viewing ageing as a natural, autonomous life stage.
