Argentina's INPI and Mexico's IMPI Roll Out Major IP Procedure Reforms

The Argentine National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) issued Resolution 215/2026 to accelerate administrative nullity and expiry procedures for trademarks. The reform tightens standing requirements, mandates pre‑notification to trademark owners, aligns nullity actions with opposition proceedings, and imposes strict, non‑extendable deadlines to reduce delays.

Mexico's Institute of the Mexican Industrial Property (IMPI) was appointed as an International Search Authority and International Preliminary Examination Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The designation makes IMPI the 26th authority in the PCT system and one of four Spanish‑language offices, highlighting Mexico's technical compliance and expanding its role in global patent protection.
