Argentina's INPI updates trademark opposition rules and training

The National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) in Argentina has implemented a new regulation to modernize the administrative resolution of trademark registration oppositions. Resolution 297/2026 aims to automate procedural stages, concentrate deadlines, and optimize evidence management to increase efficiency, predictability, and legal certainty.

The new rules apply to trademark applications submitted from March 1, 2026. Applications filed prior to February 28, 2026, will continue to be processed under the previous regulatory framework.

In a related development regarding professional development in the sector, the IDEP Tucumán is facilitating a training call from the INPI. This program allows individuals to specialize in Industrial Property and sit for the examination to become a registered Industrial Property Agent. Registration for the exam is open until August 13, 2026, with the examination scheduled for August 27.
