Argentina's INTA releases soil recovery guide as agro sector eyes Mercosur‑EU trade boost
At the Aapresid 2026 Congress in Rosario, the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Argentine Agricultural Producers Association (Aapresid) and the agribusiness company Syngenta presented a Technical Guide for the Recovery of Degraded Soils. The guide is intended to help producers and advisors diagnose soil degradation, select indicators, define management practices and build recovery plans, with the aim of preserving Argentina’s natural capital. INTA president Nicolás Bronzovich said the publication is more than a technical document, offering a methodology for continuous improvement and monitoring.
During the same event, officials and experts discussed how Argentina can capitalize on the newly concluded Mercosur‑European Union trade agreement to gain greater market access for its agro‑industry. Secretary of International Economic Relations Fernando Brun highlighted the five‑fold growth in global agricultural trade since 2000 and urged Argentina to shift from a reliable supplier to a necessary partner in the international food system. Panelists called for deeper commercial openness, active participation in multilateral forums, and strategic use of the agreement to boost exports.
