Argentina's Jujuy and Misiones Provinces Adopt New Justice Reforms

The governor of Jujuy, Carlos Sadir, and national Justice Minister Juan Bautista Mahiques signed an agreement to apply the provincial mediation law (Law No. 6353) and to join the national anti‑micro‑trafficking program (Pronadem). The pact aims to speed up conflict resolution through dialogue‑based procedures and to strengthen drug‑prevention efforts in border areas.

In Misiones, the Superior Tribunal de Justicia held an inter‑institutional meeting to advance the implementation of the new Juvenile Penal Regime (Law No. 27.801). Ministers Juan Manuel Díaz, Cristina Irene Leiva and Valeria Fiore Cáceres emphasized the shift to an accusatory, guarantees‑based system that lowers the age of criminal responsibility to 14 and seeks to provide rehabilitation and protection for around 1,400 adolescents each year.

Both provinces are coordinating with national authorities to modernize their justice systems, improve access for citizens, and address specific security challenges.
