Argentina's Jujuy and Tolhuin Municipalities Boost Community Partnerships

In San Salvador de Jujuy, the city council met with the newly elected Council Vecinal leadership, headed by President Joel Méndez, Secretary Omar Velásquez and Treasurer María Jáuregui. Council members discussed mechanisms to coordinate actions between the deliberative body, neighbourhood organisations and municipal authorities. Councilor Gastón Millón praised the visit, saying, “We had the honour of being visited by the Council Vecinal, an apolitical institution that intercedes with authorities to improve neighbourhood conditions.”

In the Patagonian city of Tolhuin, Mayor Daniel Harrington and Secretary of Government Ana Paula Cejas held a meeting with the Public Defender’s Office, represented by Dr. José Bongiovanni. The parties outlined a framework cooperation agreement aimed at responding quickly to gas service interruptions affecting vulnerable families and to strengthen access to legal rights. The agreement will enable joint outreach, training, rights dissemination and the creation of a local assistance centre for the community.
