Health ministries in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Honduras push vaccinations amid disease threats

Argentina's La Rioja health ministry urged residents who received the first dose of the dengue vaccine to get the second dose within the recommended three‑month interval, noting that the current stock contains the final doses available for the provincial program.

Chile's regional health authority in Tarapacá called for all pilgrims and high‑risk groups to be vaccinated at least 14 days before the upcoming Fiesta de La Tirana, highlighting the need for protection against respiratory illnesses and stressing that older adults, children under five, pregnant women and people with chronic conditions should be prioritized.

Peru's DIRIS Lima Este reminded parents that measles remains highly contagious and deadly, emphasizing the two‑dose national schedule (first dose at 12 months, second at 18 months) and urging vaccination of children up to ten years old to prevent complications.

In Arequipa, Peruvian health officials announced a requirement that students, athletes and teachers participating in national holiday delegations present proof of measles vaccination, following 32 reported cases in the region and a target of 95 % coverage to interrupt transmission.

Honduras reported a pertussis outbreak with 14 deaths and more than 180 confirmed or suspected cases. Health officials urged the public to complete the five‑dose pertussis vaccine series, especially for infants and young children, and to seek care promptly for symptoms.
