Argentina's local markets launch weekly promotions and fairs

The Mercado Municipal Dorrego in Tucumán announced a week‑long slate of discounted food items, including two kilos of puchero for $21,900, pork ribs for $20,000, and bakery specials such as ten tortillas for $1,800. The market will be closed on Saturday, 27 June, for fumigation.

In Resistencia, the provincial government’s Programa Ñande held its latest feria in Plaza 25 de Mayo, where small producers and entrepreneurs sold directly to residents without intermediaries. Coordinator Abel “Belchi” Silva noted strong community response and urged new producers to join, emphasizing the requirement of a food‑handling card and the prohibition of resale.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen local economies, provide affordable groceries, and give small‑scale producers direct access to consumers.
