Argentina's local officials address electricity service challenges

In the city of Clorinda, families from the San Miguel neighbourhood have pressed the municipal government for the regularisation of their electricity supply. They allege that mayor Ariel Caniza has delayed authorising formal connections, leaving residents to rely on unsafe, makeshift wiring that jeopardises appliances and health, especially for vulnerable groups. The community leaders Elena Barrios and Nélida Dávalos presented their case to council members, demanding the municipal approval needed to install meters and stabilise the power network.

Meanwhile, the Honorable Concejo Deliberante of Luján met with the Cámara de Industria, Comercio y Servicios to discuss the local economic climate, focusing on the high cost of energy and its impact on businesses and commerce. Council president Federico Vanín and chamber president Alberto Nicosia highlighted the need for coordinated action between public authorities and the private sector to mitigate energy‑related challenges and promote regional development.
