Argentina's Milei administration faces economic and internal pressures

The administration of President Javier Milei faces increasing pressure as it attempts to manage economic instability and internal political dynamics. A primary challenge remains the fight against inflation, which is a central pillar of the government's electoral contract. While the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) reported a consumer price index (IPC) increase of 1.9 percent for September, the government has emphasized that this figure remained below the 2 percent threshold predicted by private consultants.

Despite official claims of a “symbiotic” relationship between President Milei and Economy Minister Luis Caputo, reports suggest growing tensions within the administration. These frictions are reportedly linked to economic indicators such as rising unemployment, poverty, and declining consumption, as well as internal disagreements regarding political list compositions for upcoming elections. The government's ability to address these economic variables will be critical for La Libertad Avanza as it seeks to maintain political viability through 2027.
