Karina Milei heads revamp of Argentina's political desk

Following the departure of Manuel Adorni, the Argentine government reorganized its internal coordination body, the Mesa Política. The newly structured forum, led by Secretary General of the Presidency Karina Milei, will meet weekly to monitor and steer the administration’s legislative agenda.

Diego Santilli assumed the role of chief of staff, while communication secretary Fabián Fernández joined the group. Attendees also included Economy Minister Luis Caputo, Senate President Martín Menem, Senator Patricia Bullrich, and advisors Eduardo and Santiago Menem, among others.

Key legislative items reviewed were the Law of Inviolability of Private Property (scheduled for Senate debate on 16 July), technical amendments to the Inocencia Fiscal project (to be sent to the Chamber of Deputies after 20 July), a reform of the Cold‑Zone (Zonas Frías) regime aimed at reducing gas subsidies and saving over 270 billion pesos, and an electoral reform to suspend the PASO primaries ahead of the 2027 elections. The cabinet also discussed a reform of the Central Bank’s charter and other deregulation measures.

Caputo presented recent economic data, noting a 6.3 % monthly and 4.1 % annual rise in construction activity in May. Parallel to the political meeting, spokesperson Adrián Ravier began a series of ministerial briefings to centralize and streamline government communications.
