Argentina's Milei extends public enterprise agency for two years
President Javier Milei signed Decree 611 to prolong the temporary Special Executive Unit – the Agency for the Transformation of Public Enterprises (ATEP) – for an additional two years, from 19 July 2026 until its objectives are met. The decree adds two new functions: representing the State in public companies when assigned, and assessing the suitability of candidates proposed for their boards.
The agency, created by Decree 644/2024 on 18 July 2024, coordinates the privatisation of firms such as Aerolíneas Argentinas, EANA and Intercargo. Leadership changes include confirming lawyer Diego Martín Chaher as head, accepting the resignation of Luciano Rodolfo Masnú Lardet as Director Executive of Processes and Privatizations and appointing him as Sub‑Secretary, and naming Cristian Nicolás García ad honorem as the new Director Executive of Processes and Privatizations.
