Argentina's Mirar Mejor Program Reaches 15,000 Patients with Free Eye Care

The Mirar Mejor initiative, coordinated by the Instituto Provincial de la Lucha contra la Ceguedad (IPLyC) and the Sociedad de Oftalmología de Misiones (SOMI), has provided free ophthalmological examinations, diagnoses and glasses to more than 15,000 residents of Misiones province. The program’s 19th operation of 2026 took place in the town of Profundidad, marking the 79th deployment since it began in August 2024 and covering 64 municipalities.

Beneficiaries reported first‑time eye exams and immediate relief after receiving prescription lenses. The next scheduled stop is in Aristóbulo del Valle.

Since its launch, Mirar Mejor has conducted 79 mobile clinics across 19 municipalities this year, aiming to bring visual health services to remote communities without requiring travel to larger cities.
