Argentina's monotributo recategorization slashes child benefits

The biannual monotributo recategorization, scheduled for July, updates the tax category of independent workers based on their last‑year revenue. The new classification also determines the amount of child allowances paid by ANSES. Under the July 2.15% mobility increase, allowances are set at ARS 74,033 per child for category A, ARS 49,939 for B, ARS 30,206 for C, and ARS 15,585 for categories D‑G, while categories H‑K receive none.

A shift from A to B reduces the benefit by more than 32%, and a move from C to D cuts it by roughly 48%. The changes affect thousands of middle‑class and vulnerable families, especially amid high inflation that forces many taxpayers into higher categories. The recategorization deadline is August 5. Experts advise monotributistas to review their twelve‑month invoicing, compare earnings with the new thresholds, ensure their fiscal key has security level 2, and assess the household impact before filing.
