Santa Cruz municipalities grant holiday after Argentina reaches World Cup final

The municipalities of Pico Truncado and Caleta Olivia in Argentina's Santa Cruz province announced an administrative holiday for Thursday, 16 July, following the national football team’s 2‑1 victory over England that secured a place in the 2026 World Cup final. Pico Truncado’s mayor Pablo Anabalón signed Decree No. 2413/26, while Caleta Olivia’s mayor Pablo Carrizo issued Decree No. 1338/26, both granting leave to municipal employees while ensuring essential services remain operational.

The decision reflects the historic nature of the win, with Argentina set to face Spain in the tournament final on 19 July.
