Argentina's Newcom squad competes in South American tournament in Uruguay

The South American Newcom Championship for the mixed +50 age category began in Paysandú, Uruguay, featuring national teams from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. The tournament, which has grown rapidly over the past decade as a popular sport for older adults, runs over consecutive days with a packed match schedule and will conclude on Sunday with the final rankings.

Argentina's roster includes two players from the city of 9 Julio in Buenos Aires Province – captain Alejandra Aramburu and Marcelo Dicásolo – along with a blend of athletes from several Argentine provinces. The Argentine team opened its campaign on Friday with matches against Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay, continued on Saturday with further games against Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay, and faces a final set of fixtures on Sunday to determine the championship positions.
