Argentina's Northwest Provinces Demand Federal Funding for Health Services

Health ministers and regional coordinators held an urgent summit in Santiago del Estero to address a severe financing gap in the federal "Incluir Salud" program. The program, which covers dialysis, oncology and high‑cost medicines for vulnerable pensioners, has been stalled by the suspension of national fund transfers.

Provincial officials from Jujuy, Catamarca, La Rioja, Corrientes, Salta, Tucumán, Chaco and Misiones reported that they are reallocating their own budgets to keep essential services running. They called for the creation of a permanent federal mesa to secure predictable payment schedules and restore the flow of funds. The joint request will be presented to the upcoming session of the Federal Health Council (COFESA).
