Argentina's peso overvalued in The Economist's Big Mac Index

The Economist’s latest Big Mac Index shows the Argentine peso is 19 % overvalued against the U.S. dollar when the price of the burger is adjusted for GDP per‑capita. This places Argentina 14th among the world’s most overvalued currencies, a drop from the top‑spot it held in early 2025. In the traditional, unadjusted version of the index the peso appears 5 % undervalued, with a Big Mac costing US$5.91 in Argentina versus US$6.22 in the United States.

The report also notes Uruguay’s currency as the most overvalued in the adjusted ranking and Switzerland as the country with the most expensive Big Mac at US$9.04. The index uses the uniformity of McDonald’s burgers to illustrate purchasing‑power parity across nations.
