Argentina's Prosecutor General Adds MPF to National Anti‑Terrorism Center

Interim Attorney General Eduardo Casal signed Resolution PGN No. 51/26 to incorporate the Ministry Public Fiscal (MPF) into the National Anti‑Terrorism Center (CNA), created by Decree 717/2025. He appointed Juan Manuel Olima Espel as the institutional liaison and Armando Antao Cortez as alternate. The CNA, operating under the Presidential Intelligence Secretariat, is intended to improve coordination on terrorism prevention and financing in line with UN conventions and FATF standards.

In a separate ceremony at the Procuración General in Buenos Aires, the MPF swore in new federal prosecutors for the NEA region: Juan Marcelo Burella Acevedo for Corrientes and Patricio Nicolás Sabadini for Resistencia (Chaco). Their appointments follow public competition No. 120, were ratified by presidential decrees 626/2026 and 636/2026, and received Senate approval. Casal highlighted the decentralized selection process, saying it “permite que aquellos que están en mejores condiciones de cubrir la vacante… puedan concursar sin enfrentarse al obstáculo de trasladarse a la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.”
