Argentina's provinces move forward on UNESCO heritage site and farmland allocation

The San Luis provincial government is reviving a two‑decade‑old effort to have the Sierra de las Quijadas National Park added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. Officials—including the park guard Juan Garro, protected‑areas director Silvia Lencina, and provincial deputy Bruno Mini—met with national tourism and culture representatives to assess the dossier and begin digitising the historic file for submission.

In Santa Cruz, the Provincial Agrarian Council held a meeting in Lago Posadas to advance the allocation of agricultural plots to aspiring producers. Council president Hugo Garay said, "Hay mucha gente que quiere invertir, pero sabemos perfectamente que son ustedes quienes están acá y tenemos que resolver sus necesidades," emphasizing the government's commitment to creating opportunities for local families. The council will soon approve the application requirements and coordinate infrastructure work such as road access and irrigation canals.

Both initiatives illustrate provincial authorities in Argentina seeking to promote tourism and agricultural development through targeted projects.
