Argentina's provincial airports see surge in international connectivity

Data from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) indicates a significant expansion in air connectivity from Argentina's interior provinces. In July 2026, 266,826 passengers traveled internationally directly from provincial airports without transiting through Buenos Aires, marking a 15% increase compared to July 2025 and a 111% increase since 2023.

Tucumán saw the most dramatic growth, with international passenger numbers rising by 208% following the introduction of a direct route to Panama via Copa Airlines. Other notable increases in international connectivity include Rosario (25%) and Bariloche (21%). New international activity was also recorded in Neuquén, which connected to Santiago de Chile via LATAM, and Ushuaia, which established a route to São Paulo through GOL and LATAM Brasil.

Regarding total passenger volume from January to July 2026, Argentina's airports handled approximately 28.86 million passengers, a marginal 0.3% increase over the same period in 2025. While Aeroparque remains the busiest airport, it saw a 3.1% decline in passengers. Ezeiza recorded an 8.8% increase in volume, leading the growth among major hubs.
