Argentina's provincial credit cards launch interest‑free promos for World Cup shoppers

The provincial government of Entre Ríos, through the Sidecreer credit‑card system, has allocated 1 000 million Argentine pesos to finance a two‑stage promotion running from 11 May to 30 June. The scheme offers discounts of 30‑50 % on selected products such as televisions, smartphones, notebooks, motorcycles and travel services, and allows purchases to be paid in 12, 18 or 24 interest‑free installments. Sidecreer’s president Mariano Reyno Buch said the aim is to reactivate local consumption and protect cash flow for small merchants.

In the neighbouring province of Chaco, the Nuevo Banco del Chaco’s Tuya card is running a parallel set of offers. It provides 15‑month interest‑free financing for televisions to encourage fans to watch the World Cup, a weekly “Día Tuya” promotion with four‑installment, 10 %‑bonus purchases in apparel and accessories, and a range of three‑installment, zero‑interest deals for groceries, fuel, pharmacy items, club memberships and airline tickets. Both programmes are promoted through online portals and encourage merchants across the provinces to join.

The promotions are tied to the 2022 World Cup, with the stated goal of stimulating provincial retail sales and increasing card usage among households.
