Argentina's San Juan Province Eyes Surgical Robot as Hospital Posadas Boosts Lab Capacity

The health ministry of San Juan province, led by Minister Amílcar Dobladez, confirmed that the province is evaluating the acquisition of a high‑end surgical robot for Hospital Rawson. The purchase would be the first of its kind in the province and is contingent on completing a 20 billion‑peso renovation of the hospital’s equipment and training surgeons to operate the system. Dobladez indicated the robot could be obtained as early as next year once the upgrades and staff preparation are finished.

In Saladillo, the Dr. Alejandro Posadas Hospital has expanded its laboratory after an 800 million‑peso investment by the Buenos Aires provincial health ministry. The new facilities increased diagnostic capacity by 30%, allowing the lab to process more than 10,000 studies each month. Upgrades include automated bacteriology, hormone and tumor‑marker analyzers, coagulation systems, a five‑population hematology counter and advanced clinical chemistry equipment, all integrated through a modern laboratory information system. The expansion reduces patient referrals and shortens turnaround times for the region.
