Argentina's San Justo and San Luis Provinces Begin Major Road Reconstruction

The provincial government of San Justo announced a comprehensive overhaul of a 38.6‑km stretch of Ruta Provincial 39, allocating 54.049 million pesos for a 15‑month project. The work includes full‑depth pavement replacement, widening to a 7.30‑metre carriageway, and the construction of a 60‑metre‑diameter roundabout at the junction with Ruta Nacional 11. Public works minister Lisandro Enrico said, “we are rebuilding Ruta 39 from end to end with modern standards and lasting works, not just a patch.” Administrator Pablo Seghezzo added that the reconstruction will use a layered base of cemented granular material and reinforced asphalt, along with LED lighting, upgraded drainage and safety barriers.

In San Luis, Governor Claudio Poggi signed a decree authorising a 279.993 million‑peso investment to rehabilitate critical sections of Ruta Provincial 5 and Ruta Provincial 18. The plan targets erosion‑damaged concrete screens on the Conlara River bridge and a deep scour hole on Ruta 18 near the Potrero de los Funes monolith. Works will include concrete reinforcement, soil compacting, guardrail replacement and drainage improvements to protect the corridors that support regional tourism and commerce.
