Argentina's San Luis and Santa Cruz provinces invest over $900 million in hospital equipment

The governor of San Luis Province, Claudio Poggi, signed a decree authorising a $723 million procurement for three hospitals – the Pediatric Hospital San Luis, the Juan Domingo Perón Polyclinic and the new René Favaloro Hospital in Villa Mercedes. The package includes autoclaves, sterilisation units, imaging devices, defibrillators, monitors and a full range of medical, dental and diagnostic equipment, with the new hospital expected to be completed in early 2027.

In Santa Cruz Province, Health and Environment Minister Lorena Ross announced the Strategic Financing Law, a ten‑year plan to modernise all 14 public hospitals. The initiative will fund high, medium and low‑complexity equipment such as tomographs, MRI scanners, laparoscopic and endoscopic towers, and other advanced devices, aiming to decentralise care, cut long patient transfers and improve safety for staff. A separate agreement with the national organ‑transplant coordination body will expand early detection and prevention for chronic kidney disease.

Both provinces are committing multi‑hundred‑million dollars to upgrade facilities, expand services and improve health outcomes for their residents.
