Argentina's San Luis Villages Highlighted in UN Best Tourism Villages Program
National tourism and environment officials visited the San Luis villages of El Trapiche and La Carolina as part of the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s Best Tourism Villages initiative. El Trapiche was selected as one of eight Argentine villages that will compete to represent the country in the 2026 edition of the program, while La Carolina had previously been named one of the world’s most beautiful villages in 2023.
The delegation, led by national director of Development and Promotion Pablo Cagnoni, toured local attractions, natural sites and cultural assets, emphasizing sustainable tourism, heritage preservation and community‑driven development. Secretary of Tourism and Environment Daniel Scioli said, “Este programa permite posicionar a nuestros destinos en una red internacional de excelencia, generando visibilidad global y fortaleciendo el desarrollo turístico con una mirada a largo plazo.” The visits aim to boost visibility, investment and employment in the smaller interior towns of Argentina.
