Argentina's Science and Technology Secretary Darío Genua Resigns

Darío Genua, Argentina's Secretary of Innovation, Science and Technology, submitted his resignation on Tuesday after chief of staff Diego Santilli moved him out of the post as part of a broader cabinet reorganization. The decree that triggered the change transferred the National Communications Agency (ENACOM) and the Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) directly to the Cabinet, while moving Arsat and the official mail service under the vice‑chief of Cabinet for the Interior, Gustavo Coria.

The secretariat retains oversight of major scientific bodies, including the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), the National Space Activities Commission (CONAE), the National Genetic Data Bank, and the public space‑vehicle company VENG. No successor has been announced, but officials expect an appointee aligned with Santilli and President Javier Milei's agenda. Genua had been politically linked to presidential adviser Santiago Caputo and had strained relations with Santilli prior to his departure.
