Meanwhile, the provincial Legislature of Neuquén reconvened after a two‑week winter break. Lawmakers, led by deputy and Comunidad bloc chief Ernesto Novoa, are set to discuss a draft mining code that would update the provincial mining procedure and introduce a royalty scheme, particularly targeting the Vaca Muerta shale basin. The agenda also includes a new family code and a project to protect irrigated lands from uncontrolled subdivision.
