Argentina's Senate evaluates 25 judicial candidates as Jujuy prepares digital magistrate election

The Argentine Senate will reconvene on 4‑5 August for two public hearings to assess roughly 25 candidates for judges, prosecutors and public defenders across a range of federal and provincial courts, including positions in Formosa, Santiago del Estero, La Rioja, Gualeguaychú and several appellate chambers.

In the Mexican state of Querétaro, the local Congress is set to vote in September on a constitutional amendment that delays the next judicial election until June 2028, separating it from the 2027 general elections and permitting re‑election of certain magistrates.

Meanwhile, the province of Jujuy in Argentina will hold its first fully digital election on 11 August 2026 to choose representatives of lower‑court judges, prosecutors and public defenders for the provincial Council of the Magistracy, using the Integrated Judicial Management System (SIGJ) for voter authentication and ballot tracking.
