Argentina's western provinces face snow and wind alerts

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued an orange alert for heavy snowfall in the Mendoza mountain districts of Malargüe and San Rafael, with expected accumulations of 50–70 cm. A yellow alert was also released for snow and strong winds across Mendoza, Neuquén, Río Negro and San Juan, forecasting up to 15 cm of snow and gusts reaching 110 km/h. In Neuquén, the service warned of strong rain and mixed rain‑snow events, maintaining a yellow alert for Chos Malal where heavy rain is expected. Authorities advise securing objects, travelling with caution on mountain routes, and avoiding non‑essential trips while conditions persist.
