Argentina's soybean harvest reaches historic levels as wheat sowing stalls in Entre Ríos

New estimates show the 2024/25 soybean harvest in Córdoba and Santiago del Estero provinces could exceed 5.2 million tonnes, with average yields and production hitting record highs. The report notes improved soil conditions after May rains and highlights the best yields in the Tomás Young, Tinajerayoj and Quimilí zones, while maize and sorghum also posted above‑average yields.

In Entre Ríos, wheat planting intentions for the 2026/27 cycle stand at 600,000 ha, about 18 % lower than the previous year, yet sowing progress has reached 79 % of the target, outpacing the five‑year average of 67 %. Excessive humidity and recent rain have delayed operations, especially along the Paraná coast, and farmers have applied insecticides to control aphids. Flax (linseed) planting targets about 9,500 ha, with roughly 50 % of the area sown, but progress has been limited by soil moisture.
