Argentina's Sunflower and Soybean Harvest Outlooks Point to Record Exports

Argentina’s agricultural sector is poised for strong export performance. The USDA projects exportable sunflower supplies for the 2026/27 crop at 15.6 million tonnes, about 15 % higher than the previous year. Consultants recommend selling older sunflower stocks now, as price windows between March and May could reach $400‑$420 per tonne, with $360‑$370 still attractive. Europe remains a key market, with 1.18 million tonnes of Argentine sunflower seed already scheduled for shipment, despite strict residue limits and recent tax changes in Ukraine shifting supply dynamics.

In parallel, the 2025/26 soybean season delivered a seven‑year record, producing an estimated 51.5 million tonnes despite a 1.3 million‑hectare reduction in planted area. The Central region contributed roughly 75 % of output, while the North saw an 80 % increase over the previous cycle. Domestic crushing is forecast at 43.6 million tonnes, up 1.8 million tonnes, and the normalization of China‑U.S. trade is expected to reopen traditional export channels, supporting further growth in Argentine soy‑derived products.
