Argentina's SUTEF Demands Detailed Report on School Infrastructure Work

The education union SUTEF formally requested the provincial education minister, Pablo López Silva, to provide a comprehensive report on construction and repairs carried out in schools during the winter break. The demand includes a review of work performed at facilities that suffered serious structural problems, such as Jardín N° 4, Colegio Técnico Provincial "Olga B. de Arko", Colegio Técnico Provincial "Antonio Martín Marte", and several other schools. SUTEF also asked to coordinate site inspections with the Ministry of Education and the School Infrastructure area to verify that the interventions meet safety standards for resuming classes.

The union highlighted that more than 70 days of classes were lost in the first half of the year due to failures in gas, water and building conditions, and warned that temporary fixes are insufficient. SUTEF urged the Melella government and legislative blocks to urgently adopt the proposed Provincial Education Financing Law, which would allocate specific resources for school infrastructure improvements.
