Argentina's UBA vicerrector says no agreement with government until university funding law is fulfilled

The parties must still comply with the Ley de Financiamiento Universitario and advance salary recomposition for faculty and staff.

Yacobitti noted the government's economic acknowledgment covers about 60% of the university's demands for salaries, operating expenses, and university hospitals, yet the law’s full implementation remains pending. He affirmed the universities will continue judicial action over the funding law and warned that delays have led to staff reductions, loss of students, and a significant brain drain, with many professors and researchers seeking work abroad. The recent massive protests, which drew cultural figures and broader public attention, pressured the government but did not resolve the fiscal dispute.
