Argentina's Villa Pehuenia Moquehue Honors Gastronomy Workers as Misiones Burgers Join National Contest

Villa Pehuenia‑Moquehue marked the Día del Trabajador Gastronómico by honoring chefs, bakers, bartenders, producers and other food‑service workers who shape the town’s culinary identity. Municipal officials highlighted the role of local gastronomy in attracting tourists and noted the town’s status as the capital of Neuquén cuisine and host of the National Patagonian Chef Festival. Chef Matías Tesoriero of Borravino emphasized how regional flavors and seasonal products define the menu and the community’s cultural expression.

In parallel, the Misiones‑based burger shop Wacho de Barrio was selected to represent the province at the Burger Palusa competition in Buenos Aires. The team will showcase its “La Veci” burger, featuring smashed beef, smoked cheddar, green onion, mango‑spicy lactonesa and crunchy mandioca. The contest, created by Rodolfo “Rodo” Cámara, gathers 24 top Argentine burgers for a five‑minute on‑camera challenge, with judges and viewers voting on the final winners.

Both events underscore the growing visibility of regional Argentine cuisine on national platforms, from mountain villages to urban burger festivals.
