Buenos Aires Legislature Advances Funding Reform for Volunteer Firefighters
Volunteer fire departments in Argentina marked the National Volunteer Firefighter Day with a ceremony in Suipacha, where cadets and active firefighters received awards for seniority, merit and service, and new cadets were inducted.
In the same period, the Buenos Aires provincial legislature placed the strengthening of the volunteer firefighter system on its agenda. Deputies and senators held a tribute event and introduced proposals to amend Law 14.761 and update the operational financing fund that supports more than 260 fire stations. The measures aim to restore the fund’s purchasing power eroded by inflation and ensure adequate resources for emergency response, fire prevention and disaster relief across the province.
