Argentine agricultural leaders call for improved rural infrastructure

Agricultural leaders in Argentina are highlighting critical infrastructure needs and economic challenges facing the sector. Pablo Ginestet, president of the Confederación de Asociaciones Rurales de Buenos Aires y La Pampa (CARBAP), has issued a critical diagnosis regarding the state of productive and road infrastructure in Buenos Aires province. He noted that rural roads, provincial and national routes, and pending water works—specifically the delayed Salado River projects—remain structural problems. Ginestet warned that upcoming weather patterns associated with El Niño could exacerbate these issues due to the lack of maintenance and long-term planning required for such works.

Simultaneously, Nicolás Pino, president of the Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA), held an expanded Board of Directors meeting in General Las Heras to strengthen ties with regional producers. During the event, economist Claudio Zuchovicki provided an analysis of the Argentine economic context, emphasizing that wealth generation through industry, mining, and agriculture is essential to addressing poverty. The SRA leadership stressed the importance of maintaining an active presence in rural territories to address local producer concerns.
