Argentine Air Force to renew Río Grande radar infrastructure
Representatives from the Argentine Air Force met with the Río Grande City Council to discuss the National Aerospace Surveillance and Control System (SINVICA) project. The initiative involves renewing the infrastructure and equipment at the Río Grande Radar Site, located within the Cabo Domingo natural reserve.
The project includes the installation of new equipment manufactured by INVAP to consolidate the site's capabilities. Air Force officials emphasized that the system is a strategic asset for national defense and the surveillance of sovereign airspace, particularly given the geopolitical importance of Argentina's southern region.
During the briefing, authorities assured council members that the program will not negatively impact the natural reserve or its adjacent ecosystem.
