Argentine amateur football players and coaches reach legal settlements after violent incidents
Two separate legal cases involving violence in Argentine amateur football have reached settlements through economic compensation.
In San Juan, Sportivo Desamparados coach Mauricio Del Cero reached an agreement with Unión de Villa Krause physical trainer Adrián Dalmiro Arnau following an assault during a Torneo Regional Amateur match on September 21. Del Cero committed to paying Arnau $100,000 in cash by November 10 to resolve the criminal case. The incident, which resulted in Arnau suffering an eye hemorrhage, was settled via a restorative justice mechanism facilitated by the Public Prosecutor's Office. Both parties agreed to refrain from further harassment.
In Cipolletti, a player accused of attacking a referee during a match in September 2025 has been dismissed from criminal proceedings after fulfilling an economic agreement. The victim, who suffered injuries from punches and kicks and received threats, accepted compensation, leading the prosecution to request the dismissal of charges against Franco Gastón San Martín. However, the victim has indicated intentions to pursue additional reparations through civil court.
