Argentine and Spanish police dismantle international hacker @Gov.eth
A joint operation by the Federal Police of Argentina and the National Police of Spain identified and apprehended the individual behind the online alias “@Gov.eth.” The suspect, linked to a series of cyber‑attacks targeting public agencies, media outlets and sensitive databases across several countries, was located in a residence in Rivas‑Vaciamadrid, Spain, where authorities seized smartphones, computers and other digital devices.
Investigators allege the hacker employed tactics such as doxxing, selling stolen personal data via bots, credential harvesting and website defacement, including the use of AI‑generated extremist content. The case highlights the growing challenge for states confronting cyber‑crime networks that operate across multiple jurisdictions.
The operation follows earlier Argentine investigations that uncovered the hacker’s digital footprints and enabled Spanish police to execute the search warrant, marking one of the most significant recent cross‑border actions against cyber‑criminals originating from Argentine inquiries.
